 Mountaineering Peaks
CHULU EAST PEAK:
* 25 Days (4 Days Kathmandu, 15 Days Camping Trek & 6 Days
Mountaineering)
* Grade: Mountaineering Plus
* Max. Elevation: 6160m
* Departs Kathmandu, Every Thursday

Chulu West to the north of the Annapurna range is an ideal summit for those wanting to extend their climbing experience beyond the trekking peaks of the Everest region. It is also and ideal peak on which to develop expeditionary style experience as members will play an active role in establishing the intermediary camps on the mountain.

Chulu West is best accessed from a base camp situated north of Manang
The Chulu East permit allows two distinct peaks, Chulu East, & Chulu Far East. Both are attainable from the same base camp, & high camp (5,334m) in the Chegagji Khola valley. The base is located in the moraines above a guarding cliff & waterfall below the col in the ridge separating the east & Far East peaks.

A climb to the summit of these mountains offers spectacular views of the Annapurna & other Himalayan ranges together with a sweeping view of the Tibetan plateau.

The Chulu Adventure starts with a pleasant drive from Kathmandu to Beshisahar. We follow the lush terraced lowlands of the Marsyangdi River Valley towards the Tibetan border. A Spectacular valley trail cuts between the Manasalu (8163m) & Annapurna (8091m) ranges as we enter the rain shadow area behind the Annapurna range & follow the valley to Manang before ascending to the Chulu Base Camp from Yak Kharka. The climb is not technically demanding but is very Challenging Plus. The views from the summit include the entire panorama of the Annapurna range, Manasalu & parts of Tibet. Our return journey passes through the Thorang La arriving at Jomsom. We then fly to Pokhara & on Kathmandu, completing this wonderful trip having conquered the Challenging Plus Chulu.
