 Mountaineering Peaks
MERA PEAK TREK & CLIMB (6,654M):
* 25 Days (4 Days Kathmandu, 17 Days Camping Trek & 4 Days
Mountaineering)
* Grade: Challenging Plus
* Max. Elevation: 6,654m
The bulk of Mera, the highest of Nepal's permitted trekking peaks, rises to the south of Everest & dominates the watershed between the wild & heavily wooded valleys of the Hinku & Hongu Drangkas, both uninhabited. This is an ideal peak to choose if you are looking to experience your first Himalayan climbing expedition. Though technically an easy climb, it is a true mountaineering experience & a real challenge!

Our Mera Peak Adventure starts as we take a magnificent flight from Kathmandu to the small airstrip at Phaplu, in the heart of the Solu Khumbu. The trail heads north to Trakshindo Monastery. Crossing the grain of the land, we visit the Sherpa village & pass through forests of rhododendron & conifer on the way to the Dudh Koshi River Valley. At Kharikhola we gain access to the remote Hinku valley & our trail to the base camp of Mera Peak. The trail provides spectacular mountain scenery & a perfect opportunity for acclimatization. We experience a growing sense of anticipation, heightened by the spectacle of Mera Peak off in the distance. Necessary preparations for the climb are made at the Base Camp followed by moving through crevassed terrain to a high camp at 5,800 meters. We make our summit attempts from this camp, back dropped by stunning views of Everest (8848m), Makalu (8481m), Chamlang (7290m) & Baruntse (7,250m), amongst hundreds of other 'lesser' peaks. The summit view is spectacular, providing a great sense of achievement. We then return back through the high pass (Zattrawa La) & down to the airstrip at Lukla. Our Sherpa crew bids us farewell here as we fly back to Kathmandu the next day. We still have ample of time to enjoy souvenir shopping, rest & relax in Kathmandu before moving on to our next destination.

Mehra Peak (Kongma Tse) Climbing Trek is a tented camp trek on full board basis including climbing permit and climbing guide.

To participate with this trek, you must plan on arriving in Kathmandu not later than 2 days before departure date.
