Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing
Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. It is located at an altitude of 1300m from the sea level and is in fact the valley surrounded by the beautiful rolling green hills and the shimmering snow peaks to the north of it. On a clear day, you can see the crystal clear snow peaks of the Himalayan mountains. You cannot miss the main cities of Kathmandu & Patan once the petty kingdoms in the history, now merging into a common urban sprawl. A little further to the east is the valley's third major city, Bhaktapur.
The political, commercial and cultural hub of Nepal is the first stop for the majority of visitors to the country. Once a separate kingdom in itself, it contains three fabled cities - Kathmandu , Patan and Bhaktapur . Out of ten UNESCO World Heritage Sites, seven cultural heritage sites are in Kathmandu Valley.
The history of the Valley begins with the Buddhist saint Manjushree who slashed a passage through the surrounding hills to drain out the primordial waters and make it inhabitable. Over the centuries, a refined urban civilization emerged, built on a unique synthesis of Hinduism and Buddhism.
Dynasties came and went. Trade and the arts flourished. Its deeply religious Newar inhabitants built fabulous cities and artistic temples that attracted devout pilgrims as well as rampaging invaders. In the late 18th century, following the founding of modern Nepal within more or less the present boundaries, Kathmandu was made the capital. Kathmandu, the largest city in Nepal is situated at an altitude of 1,350m.
KATHMANDU
Durbar Square. This complex of palaces, courtyards and temples like Hanumandhoka Palace, Kumari Ghar (Abode of the Living Goddess), Taleju temple, built between the 12th and 18th centuries, used to be the seat of the ancient Malla Kings of Kathmandu. An intriguing piece here is the 17h -century stone inscription set into the wall of the palace with writings in 15 languages. The Durbar Square, protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the social, religious and urban focal point of the city. Even to date, all the major state and social ceremonies, including the solemnization of coronations are performed in one of the courtyards in this complex. There are also museums inside the palace building. There is an entrance fee of Rs. 250 for foreign visitors. Your ticket to the Square entitles you to visit all the museums.

Kathmandu-Pokhara-Chitwan Tour - 7 Nights 8 Days Location: Nepal, Asia
Overview:
Nepal, the land of splendid nature and rich culture is waiting for you exploration through its different facets. Explore Nepal tour gives you an opportunity to explore three different regions of the country, varying from the cultural hub teemed with fascinating ancient building like Kathmandu, the breathtaking scenery of Annapurna Range like Pokhara, and the vast, fertile forest like Chitwan National Park in Terai region. This remarkable trip will make you realize that Nepal has much to offer.
The Chitwan has had a long history of conservation. For many years it was the Royal hunting grounds for the Kings and dignitaries of Nepal and therefore was not hunted by the general public. It did however become a favorite spot for big game safari hunters in the late nineteenth and early to mid-twentieth centuries. This was coupled with a surge in local human populations following the development of anti-malaria medicines in the mid-twentieth century. The long-term effect was a drastic decrease in jungle habitat and animal populations in the Chitwan valley as jungles were converted to farmland and big game were hunted and poached to dangerously low numbers.

Lumbini has since been a holy ground for Buddhists all over the world. The restored garden and surroundings of Lumbini have the remains of many of the ancient stupas and monasteries. Kathmandu & Chitwan - 6 Days
Location: Nepal, Asia
Overview:
Nepal is a land of extreme contrasts in climate and geography, It has a unique topography ranging from lowlands with sub-tropical jungles to arctic conditions in the Himalayan highlands. Within a mere 150 kilometers the land rises from near sea level in the south to over 8000 meters in the North. This, together with the monsoon rainfall along the south facing slopes, has resulted in compacting virtually all climate zones found on planet Earth. As a result, Nepal has been endowed with a great diversity of life-zones providing a home for a large variety of plants, birds and animals.
The Terai lowlands are defined by a belt of well-watered floodplains stretching from the Indian border northward to the first slopes of the Bhabhar and the Siwalik Range. This is the richest habitat in the land with tall grasslands interspersed with riverine and hardwood sal forest . Here one can see wildlife such as the swamp deer, musk deer, black buck, blue bull, the royal Bengal tiger, gharial and marsh mugger crocodile and the last of a breed of Asiatic wild buffalo. This area is also rich in birdlife with a variety of babbles and orioles, koels and drongos, peacocks and floricans, and a multitude of wintering wildfowl. There are five protected areas in Nepal - Koshi Tappu and Parsa in the east, Sukla Phanta and Dhorpatan for hunting in the west and Shivapuri in the. mid-mountain region. The Churia, also known as the. siwalik, is the southern most range of the Himalaya.
No where do they rise above 1,220 meters, This range is famous for fossil deposits of Pleistocene mammals, among them 10 species of elephants, 6 rhinoceros, hippopotamus, saber-toothed cats, various antelopes and primates such as the orang-utan, long extinct in the subcontinent, Situated north of the Churia are broad, low valleys of the inner Terai know as the Doons. These valleys are not unlike the outer plains with tall elephant grass, swamps and ox-bow lakes where the last of the one-horned rhinoceros survive. Royal Chitwan National Park in the Inner Terai of central Nepal is the first and best protected area in the kingdom. Once one of the most famous big game hunting areas in Asia. Chitwan now offers protection to a large array of mammals such as the. one-horned rhinoceros, tiger, leopard, sloth bear and the gaur (wild bison) as well as more than 400 species of birds....More On Requst Thankyou.

It's one of the most important Shiva temples on the subcontinent and draws numerous devotees from all over India, including many colourgful sadhus, those wandering ascetic Hindu holu men. Shiva is the destriyer and creator of the Hindu Pantheon and appears in many forms. His 'temple' forms are probably brst known, particularly his appearances in Nepal as the cruel and destructive Nhairabs, but he also has peaceful incarantion including those of Mahadev and Pashupati, the lord of the beasts. As the shepherd of both animals and humans, Shiva as Pashupati shows tis most pleasant and creative side.
Swayambunath: The Buddhist temple of Swayambunath, situated on the top of a hill west of the city, in one of the most popular and instantly recognizable symbols of Nepal. The temple is colloquially known as the 'monkey temple' after the large tribe of handsome monkeys which guards the hill and amuses visitors and devotees with tricks, including sliding gracefully down the double banisters of the main stairway to the temple. Geologists believe that the Kathmandu valley was once a lake and legends relate that the hill one which Swaymabhunath stands was an island in that lake. It is said that emperor Ashoka paid a visit to the site over 2000 years ago. An inscription indicates that King Manadeva ordered work done on the site in 460 CE and by the 1200s it was an important Buddhist center. In 1346 Mughal invaders from Bengal broke open the stupa to search for gold under the Mallas various improvements were made and the great stairway to the stupa was construcked by King Pratap Malla in the 17th century.
Kathmandu Durbar Square: Durbar in Nepal 'palace' and in Patan and Bhaktapur, as well as Kathmandu, there are Durbar squares in front of the old palaces. The King no longer lives in the old Royal Palace in Kathmandu: the palace was moved north to Narayanhiti about a century ago. At that time it was on the edge of the city, now it's close to the popular tourist area of Thamel. Clustered around the central Durbar Square and the old Royal Palace (Hanuman Dhoka), numerous interesting temples, the Kumari Chowka or Kumari Bahal (House of the Living Goddess) and Kasthamandap (House of wood). It's easy to spend hours wandering around Durbar Square and the adjoining Basantapur Square. This is very much the center of old Kathmandu and watching they would go by from the terraced platforms of the towering Maju Deval is a wonderful way to get a feel for the city. Although many of the buildings around the square are very old, the great earthquake of 1934 caused a great deal of damage and many were rebuilt, not always in their original form.
Based On Itenery No Day:4
Thimi: Thimi is the fourth largest town in the valley outranked only by Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. It's a typical Newari town and its capable people (the name of the town is derived from this Newari expression) operate thriving cottage industries producing pottery and paper-made masks. They also grow vegetables for the markets of Kathmandu.
Changu Narayan: The beautiful and historic temple of Changu Naraya Stands on a hilltop at the eastern end of the valley, about four km north of Bhaktapur. Although the temple dates from 1702, when it was rebuilt after a fire, its origins go right back to the 4th century and there many important stone images and sculptures dating from the Lichhavi period.
Bhaktapur: The third of the valley's ancient cities is another century-long rival of Kathmandu. It has an impressive number of artistic treasures: it is rightly called "a living museum" as well as the most medieval city of the valley.
The oldest part of the town is around Tachupal Tole (Dattatraya Square), to the east. Bhaktapur was the capital of the whole valley during the 14th to 16th centuries and during that time the focus of the town-shifted west, to the Durbar Square area. Much of the town's great architecture dates from the end of the 17th century during the rule of King Bhupatendra Malla. According To Itenerary No Day 04: Patan Durbar Square, Kirtipur, Chobar
Patan Durbar Square: Patan is separated from Kathmandu only by the Bagmati River and is the second largest town in bally. It is sometimes referred to as Lalitpur, which means 'city of beauty' Patan has a long Buddhist history and the four comers of the city are marked by stupas said to have been erected by the great Buddhist emperor Ashoka around 250 B.C. Later inscriptions refer to palaces in the 5th century B.C. although Patan's great building boom took place under the Mallas in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Patan's central Durbar Square is absolutely packed with temples: it's an architectural feast with a far greater concentration of temples per sq. meter than in Kathmandu or Bhaktpur. Numerous other temples of widely diverse style as well as many bahals (Buddhist monasteries) are scattered around this fascinating town. Lunch at Break
Kirtipur: Strung out along a ridge south- west of Kathmandu, the small town of Kirtipur is a relatively neglected and timeless backwater despite its proximity to the capital. At one time it was associated with Patan and then became a mini- kingdom in its own right. During the 1768 conquest of the valley by Gorkha's King Prithivi NarayanShah it was clear that Kirtipur, with its superbly defensible hilltop Position, Would be the key to defeating the Mall kingdoms sot it was here the Gorkha king struck first and hardest. Kirtipur's ridge is actually two hills, with a lower saddle between them. The Chilanchu Vihara tops the southern hill and has a central stupa with four smaller stupas, numerous statues and bells and Buddhist monastery buildings around it.
Chobar: The picture square little village of Chobar tops a hill overlooking the Bagmati River where it flows through the Chobar Gorge. Although the gorge is a regularly visited attraction, far fewer people come to Chobar itself. Perhaps they're put off by the steep hill. The views of Himalaya and town are outstanding.
According To Itenerary No Day :9
Davi's fall: It is also known as Patale Chango, is an awesome waterfall laying 2 km southwest of Pokhara. During summer and rainy season, the waterfall takes its real form, with gushing water splashing and making its way through the rocks.
Gupteshwor Cave: Just opposite of Devis's fall, on the other side of the road, there is Gupteshwor Cave. This cave is popular for the different natural forms made from limestone deposits. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the cave.
Mahendra Cave and Minstrel (Gaine) Village: This limestone cave is named after King Mahendra and is situated in Bltulechaur, a village in the northern part of Pokhara valley. Professional minstrels known as Gaines live in this village.
Day 10: Moning: Boating at Phewatal Lake. Phewa Lake is the most popular destination for travelers wanting to indulge in recreational boating. It is the second largest lake in the kingdom and measureroughly 1.5 by 4 km. it's eastern shore, also known as lakeside or Baidam, is the center of tourist activity in Pokhara. Volunteer Services in Nepal
Village vision in Nepal
Insight Nepal believes that serving others is one of the most worthwhile human endeavors. The main objective of the program is to provide opportunities to those who are keenly interested in gaining a cultural experience by contributing their time and skills to benefit worthwhile community service groups throughout the Kingdom. Our second objective is to help those who are looking for an opportunity to reach people and community groups who are in need of their skills.
Nature of the Program:
There will be three primary phases during the course of the program. In each phase, the participants will have different activities and experiences designed to make the most of their time in Nepal .
Orientation Phase:
At the beginning of this phase, participants will be given a brief orientation about the schedule of the program, health care, and some cultural clues (like the do's and don'ts with their Nepali family). City tours will be arranged including some important places like the Immigration Office, the Post Office, Banks and other facilities in the Pokhara valley. During this phase participants will be given basic communication skills in spoken Nepali by a professional language trainer. The participants will also stay with a Nepali family to stimulate cross-cultural experiences and to reinforce new language skills. This will be followed by lectures which cover a variety of topics about Nepal. Thus, this will be a preparation phase for the participants to move into their placement sites.
In this phase the participants will have ample opportunities to learn about Nepal, gaining both theoretical and practical experiences by observing and participating in the family and community. All these activities and experiences will help them to build self confidence and develop the cultural understanding necessary before starting the next phase.
Placement Phase:
During this phase the participants will work at their placement site according to their interests and the needs of the host organization. The participants will be under the guidance and supervision of the host organization. Although Insight Nepal will try its best to match the participant's interests with their placement, it could sometimes be different from their expectations. Insight Nepal functions as a mediator between the volunteer and the host organization.
Since the participants will be working and interacting with different people in a new environment, it will be an excellent opportunity to share their ideas and skills. The participant will learn by working with others to overcome barriers and solve problems. In other words, this is a process of "give and take" in which the participants not only contribute their time and skills but gain a new perspective of the world. This phase can be as frustrating as it is rewarding but it will be a personal experience that is unforgettable!
Village Excursion Phase:
In this phase insight Nepal will organize a one-week trekking excursion in the Annapurna Mountain Conservation area for the participants. This is primarily to introduce them to rural areas of Nepal beyond the city. While trekking through the mountains and villages, the participants will share in the traditional lifestyle of the Nepali people and enjoy the fascinating views of snow-capped peaks, lush green valleys with their flora and fauna. Here the participants will put their language and cultural skills to work in yet another part of Nepal .
Recreational Tour:
In this part of the program, Insight Nepal will organize a trip to the south of Nepal for an elephant safari in Chitwan National Park . The park is one of Nepal 's largest forest regions with wild life ranging from the wild boar, the rhinoceros and the crocodile to the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger.
During the stay in Nepal the participants will have tremendous opportunities to explore and discover a unique way of life. They will experience the natural beauty of the kingdom as well as feel the warmth of the smiles of the Nepali people, and will depart with a love of this country.

Chitwan Safari (stay in the resort out side the Park Program - 3 nights 4 days
Location: Nepal, Asia
Overview:
Royal Chitwan National Park is synonymous with some of the most rewarding and stimulating wildlife activities in Nepal. The park is approximately 1,000 sq. km. of sub-tropical lowland jungle, five hours by road from Kathmandu or a 25 minute flight. It is home to a multitude of wild animals including the Royal Bengal tiger and the endangered one horn Rhinoceros native to Nepal of which there are less than 1,500 surviving. There have also been more than 420 species of birds recorded inside the park.
Most of our jungle itineraries include a stay at a lodge within the park of which there are only six. The accommodation is normally in double thatch cottage style rooms. A typical package is based on a two night / three days stay. Activities include elephant safaris, canoeing, bird watching and nature tours conducted by resident professional guides and naturalists.
A visit to Chitwan allows the opportunity to fully experience the contrasts of Nepal. It offers an insight into a very different natural and cultural setting compared to the more familiar visions of the Kingdom. Bird Watching & Safari - 3 Night 4 Days
Location: Nepal, Asia
Overview:
The Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is accessible by air, surface and river. The journey by air is just 45 minutes flight to Biratnagar from Kathmandu and then a mere one and half hours drive to the camp. Also rafting down for 8-10 days on the wild stretches of the Sun Koshi River is another exciting way to reach the destination. The third option would be the scenic drive through the meandering countryside road of about 500 km. That takes almost 10 hours from Kathmandu.
Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve also makes an exciting alternative destination of r visitors who have already visited Royal Chitwan National Park and Bardia National Park. Also for mountaineers and trekkers heading of returning from Arun / Makalu and Kanchenjunga region. It also serves as ideal location to break journey while en-route to Sikkim & Darjeeling and Bhutan and have a brief relaxing stay. We recommend minimum 2 nights or longer stay to appreciate and observe what park has to offer at its maximum.
